WOVEN PODS. Weaving has generally been used in the production of fabric with the end purpose of draping and covering human forms. Weaving in the context of architecture and our design narrative was less the aspiration to cover or drape the building but more on the narrative of the process. With identical units, called ‘pods’, the design focus was less on changing layouts but more on the modulation and organization of the units by creating an amalgamation of form through the weaving of a tapestry of ‘pods’ onto the façade of the building. Ultimately we wanted to create a super-scaled form that does away with usual striation of floors but instead create a form that is much more iconographical and singular.
