Commercial Low Rise

2C7 2M6 Core Island

Putrajaya, Malaysia

Project Summary

The site has 2 strong dialectics, that of the elements of nature – water from the lake, open spaces and monumental trees – warranted an inclusive and embracing approach; whilst the formality of buildings facing the Boulevard, as described in the D.U.D. warranted a more, exclusive and isolationist design outlook. It was almost like there was an invisible line that transcended the site in a North-South direction, with expectations of the building elements facing the West almost reaching out towards the water, while building elements that faced the East having a more rudimentary, almost stationary attitude.

The site is particularly interesting for it sits on the edge of Putrajaya Core Island in Precinct 2, verging to Taman Wawasan on it’s Western boundary, and adjacent to the Boulevard on it’s Eastern boundary. Thus, there exists a functional need to continue and blend any Developments on the site with the organic and natural feel of the Park, whilst maintaining the formal prerequisites associated with any development that is close to the Boulevard. In short, there is need for any Development on 2C7 and 2M6 to be both formal and informal at the same time.
